Cleanses are available to pick up after 48 hours.

GENERAL PREPARATIONS:

Consider adding more produce to your diet, particularly raw veggies and fruits

Drink plenty of water (your weight x 0.7 = number of ounces to drink daily)

Get plenty of rest

Minimize or avoid meat, dairy, grains

Avoid processed sugar, fried foods and excess fat/oils

Avoid alcohol and caffeine, and if you must drink caffeine consider green tea

Avoid overeating and eating late at night

Consult with a physician before embarking on a cleanse if you have heart or thyroid issues

HYDRATION:

Spring water is best.  Reverse Osmosis filtered tap water is great too.  If purchasing water, try to avoid water labeled as distilled or purified, as it typically does not contain the silica and minerals your body needs to be properly hydrated and supported.

If you’re unsure how much water to drink daily, multiply your weight x 0.7 to calculate the number of fluid ounces of water appropriate for you.

Note: The longer and more thoroughly you prepare, generally the easier the transition to cleansing

During Cleansing:

STAY HYDRATED:

Spring water is best.  Reverse Osmosis filtered tap water is great too.  If purchasing water, try to avoid water labeled as distilled or purified, as it typically does not contain the silica and minerals your body needs to be properly hydrated and supported.

If you’re unsure how much water to drink daily, multiply your weight x 0.7 to calculate the number of fluid ounces of water appropriate for you.

Your body will be flushing salt during the cleanse and it’s important to replace the salt in order to stay hydrated.  Take a pinch of sea salt under the tongue once or twice a day, and include water with added electrolytes to your daily water intake.

Signs of dehydration can include: Thirst, Decreased Urination, Dark Urine, Constipation, Headache, Fatigue, Lightheadedness / Dizziness.  If you experience these symptoms and you have been practicing everything described above, consult a physician to make sure you should continue the cleanse.

It can also be totally normal to experience headache and fatigue as your body works to release toxins and reboot its metabolism.

If you experience little or no urination, delirium, fever, rapid heartbeat or breathing, stop the cleanse and seek immediate medical attention.

MINDFULNESS:

Give this time to yourself.  Do your best to create space for yourself to be in this cleansing process, and plan your cleanse for a time when you can minimize (or at least avoid excesses of) stress, physical strain, and demands upon your time and energy.  Let your friends and loved ones know what you are up to so they can support you and be understanding if you need to choose to not return a call or to cancel some plans.  If it works for you, do the cleanse with a friend or family member, a co-worker or someone you can share the experience with.  Form a group and support each other that way.  It can be great to cheer each other on!

Besides drinking the juices/tonics, drinking plenty of water, and taking your supplements, you’ll want to be able to devote time to the daily practices and inquiries provided in the accompanying supportive coaching booklet.  And when body sensations, emotional feelings or thoughts arise during the process, practice noticing them without judgement.  Bring a childlike curiosity to your experiences and notice when the mind makes up meanings or narratives about them.  Remember, you are cleansing and often you will feel or think what is being cleansed as it gets released.  As long as you practice noticing without holding on or judging, the experience will pass.  Treat each moment as a new moment and avoid dragging any challenging moments along with you as you move forward through the cleanse.  Let go.

SUPPORT:

Join our community of support to connect with others who are cleansing too.  We facilitate a virtual group video chat for one hour every three days.  You are invited to join any time you are participating in a juice cleanse.  It’s a chance to listen to others’ stories, challenges, triumphs, experiences, and to get to express your own within a group that can relate to what you may be going through.  Being witnessed without judgement, and holding space for others, is an important and powerful part of the process.  We practice openly listening to one another in a safe container, where you are not given advice, coaching, opinions or anything else without your permission.  It’s important that you are heard.  You are perfect!

Post Cleansing:

The longer a cleanse/fast, the longer (and more gently) we recommend that you take to reintroduce foods to your system.  Just like warming up your car on a cold day, your body's digestive system benefits from a nice warm-up after resting for some time.  For a 3-day cleanse we recommend taking at least 1-2 days to break your fast.  For a 7-day cleanse we recommend at least 2-3 days.  Eating too much or eating inappropriate foods can cause unpleasant digestive symptoms, so it's important to take it slow and easy during this phase.  Remember digesting food takes energy, so if you experience sluggishness or fatigue after eating, it may be a sign that you need to eat smaller amounts or easier-to-digest options.  Depending on how long you have been fasting, your gut micro-flora (the environment in your digestive tract) will have significantly altered, so be sure to be gentle with your body as you reintroduce whole foods.

It's best to begin breaking a fast by sipping some vegetable broth, a light fruit smoothie, or nibbling a small amount of fruit or raw or lightly steamed veggies.  Eat slowly and only eat small portions.  Wait an hour or two and eat a bit more.  In general, choose softer foods first and gradually introduce harder foods.  For example, eating a bit of natural applesauce or steamed leafy greens before eating raw cucumber or carrots.  Avoid high-fiber and high-fat foods during this phase.

Chew slowly.  Listen to your body.  Savor the flavors and textures of your food.  Practice gratitude and appreciation.

If you are going to re-introduce foods beyond fruits and veggies, do so very gradually and in small increments.  Be especially mindful when it comes to caffeine and alcohol as your system may be more sensitive after cleansing.

Continue to drink juice during this transition.

Drink plenty of water.

Get plenty of rest.

After a juice cleanse can be an optimal time to begin to practice healthier or different eating habits.  Some people choose to take this time to eat raw vegan, or paleo diets for instance.  Whatever you choose, be kind to yourself <3

We acknowledge you for being dedicated and completing your juice cleanse!  YOU are phenomenal.
